Description
Climate change and the COVID pandemic have clearly shown the consequences of dependence on gas imports. In view of the high prices for electricity, fertilisers and fuels, we are facing major challenges. But agriculture has the potential to be part of the solution. With its extensive land areas and large market share, it can make an important contribution to the energy system. In particular, farms that have access to biomass such as manure offer potential for the production of biogas and its conversion into electricity through combined heat and power (CHP) plants.
The installation of photovoltaic and wind power systems on agricultural land opens up further opportunities for sustainable energy production. Small farms face the challenge of improving their energy production and storage. Sharing knowledge and best practices is crucial for introducing new business models and promoting sustainable practices in agriculture.
The BIOSOLFarm project aims to develop tools to optimise energy systems and provide recommendations for policy makers and farmers. The planned BIOSOLFarm conference day is part of the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) funded project:BIOSOLFarm - South Baltic Farms - an essential part of renewable energy systems in the Hanseatic and University City of Rostock and focuses on the topic of biomass.
BIOSOLFarm Conference, Lubań, June 2025 as part of program
“BIOSOLFarm – South Baltic Farms – an essential part of renewable energy systems”.
There will be 4 lectures during the conference:
1) Aspects of the development of renewable energy sources in Poland against the background of the EU, with particular emphasis on biomass as a local energy resource for rural areas and farms.
2) Untapped potential of Polish agriculture with
particular emphasis on renewable energy sources.
3) Financing energy investments
4) Planning an agricultural biogas plant. Benefits of operating agricultural biogas plants. The lectures will increase the knowledge of participants and indicate practical directions for the development of renewable energy in agriculture and rural areas.
