Movie night, games, and a vegan feast: relive the 2023 Sustainable Energy Days

It is official: the renewable energy community in Europe and beyond has never been stronger. A total of 128 events took place around the world between March and June this year under the umbrella of the Sustainable Energy Days.  

Alongside conferences, workshops, debates and classes, organisers used innovative approaches to activate local energy enthusiasts: check out their events and pick up some ideas for your own initiative to boost engagement with clean energy.  

 

ROOFTOP MOVIE NIGHT  

📍Thessaloniki, Greece 

A sustainable tech start-up used a film night on the roof of their offices as a springboard for conversations about sustainability. Bringing together multidisciplinary expertise from the fields of cinema, academia, start-ups and pop culture, the event aimed to open up discussions about sustainable energy to a wider demographic.

ENERGY-SAVING DROP IN CLINIC 

📍Nenagh, Ireland 

A local library was the backdrop to a series of community-oriented sessions designed to equip consumers with the necessary knowledge to cut energy bills while keeping comfortable at home year-round. Alongside everyday tips, attendees could learn about support and funding to make lasting improvements to their home’s efficiency.

SOLUTION-FOCUSED GAME FOR YOUTH 

📍Ribarroja del Turia, Spain 

A day of activities at a school near Valencia kicked off with a creative mural to brainstorm ideas about navigating the climate crisis. Young participants between the ages of 14 and 18 were invited to reflect, problem-solve and pitch solutions with the help of a series of prompts aimed at activating creative intelligence.

A SOLAR-POWERED FEAST

📍Paphos, Cyrus 

Renewable energy joined forces with plant-based power to offer a vegan feast cooked in an innovative solar-powered oven. Participants were given the opportunity to get involved with preparations, visit a local exhibition, and enjoy a convivial meal, all while learning about decarbonisation.
