Welcoming the 2024 Young Energy Ambassadors

A new generation of young professionals in the energy sector is paving the way for a more sustainable future.

Thirty dynamic individuals aged 18-34 from across Europe have been selected as Young Energy Ambassadors. They will now take up their roles and have the opportunity to promote clean energy initiatives.

Connecting with the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the Young Energy Ambassadors offer a mix of skills and experiences in their respective fields.

Participating in the Young Energy Ambassadors programme means supporting Europe’s aim to be climate-neutral, taking steps towards sustainable energy use, and inspiring others to do the same. By taking part in activities during and in the run up to EUSEW (11-13 June 2024), the ambassadors will also use their own social media channels, networks and organisations to promote EUSEW and its outcomes.

The 30 ambassadors, selected among 356 applications, represent 21 European countries and numerous sectors and key players in the energy field.

One grew up on an island affected by climate change, another took on the role of climate protection manager in a small town straight after graduation. A third ambassador is a passionate advocate for climate justice in her community. Meanwhile, an engineering student developed a website and algorithm to analyse energy demand and wind generation data, and an engineering professional is actively involved in financing of renewable energy business development projects.

The interests and talents of the 2024 cohort cover various topics, including renewable energies, energy communities, electric vehicles, grids, architecture and economics, to name just a few.

Just like last year’s ambassadors, this year’s cohort will play an active role during the European Youth Energy Day (EYED) on 11 June. All attendees will have the opportunity to share insights and network with young professionals and other energy experts taking part in EUSEW.

The success of this effort depends on the ideas and creativity sparked by conferences like EUSEW. With Young Energy Ambassadors at the core of the conference, Europe is investing in its future leaders to ensure it stays on track to become carbon-neutral by 2050.
