Your chance to shine at the EUSEW 2024 Awards!

Welcome to the European Sustainable Energy Awards (EUSEW Awards), where we honour exceptional achievements in energy efficiency and renewables. Get ready to join the celebration of remarkable successes shaping a sustainable and resilient energy future at the 18th edition of EUSEW, happening from 11 to 13 June 2024 in Brussels and online.

Discover the world of the EUSEW Awards through this short guide. Learn how you can spotlight not only your own actions but also the outstanding efforts of other projects and individuals. Act now – applications are open until 1 February 2024!

Empowering sustainable ingenuity

EUSEW Awards fall into three categories: Innovation, Local Energy Action and Woman in Energy.

The EUSEW Innovation Award recognises ongoing or recently completed EU-funded projects that demonstrate original work towards the clean energy transition, together with tangible real-world results. This award also inspires others to replicate and implement similar solutions across the EU, providing social, economic and environmental benefits.

The Local Energy Action Award embodies the idea of ‘Think globally – act locally’ to unleash lasting and effective change in the energy transition. From smart cities decarbonising their energy sources to community-funded projects covering renewable energy, our judging panel is waiting to hear how your local and regional initiatives are helping drive the transition to sustainable energy across Europe.

For the clean energy transition to be successful it must also be inclusive. The Woman in Energy Award promotes both equality and sustainability, highlighting women who are leading ground-breaking projects and activities that are changing the renewable energy field and underlining the value of equal opportunities and gender balance within the energy sector.

Preparing your application: what you need to know

Before you dive into the application process, make sure to review the dedicated guidelines on the EUSEW website. We want your application to align seamlessly with the expectations and requirements of the Awards.

The EUSEW Awards celebrate exceptional activities, projects or actions. However, it is crucial that these directly relate to long-term sustainable energy to qualify.

Your work must be conducted in at least one European Union or European Economic Area country. Additionally, it should be either ongoing or recently completed; projects in the planning stage or lacking results will not be considered.

If you have previously been a winner or finalist, re-entering with the same project is not possible. Yet, presenting new initiatives – fresh activities, projects or actions – is strongly encouraged.

Evaluation process

  • All applications are assessed by European Commission staff and an external technical committee.
  • The three finalists for each category will be selected by a high-level jury.

Announcing the winners

The EUSEW organising team will notify finalists of their shortlisting status by mid-April 2024.

The winners will be decided through an online public vote and announced at the Awards Ceremony on 11 June 2024. All finalists are invited to attend the event, where they will meet with a professional crew to film a promotional video about their work. This will be featured on the EUSEW communication channels during the public vote and be included in a press package, which will be sent to pan-EU and local media outlets.
