Practising what we discuss: EUSEW’s approach to sustainable event organisation
Sustainability is at the heart of EUSEW not only in what we discuss, but also in how the event is organised.
From venue selection to catering and event materials, EUSEW 2026 is designed with environmental and social responsibility in mind.
Measures in place for EUSEW 2026 include:
selecting venues close to public transport and requiring limited customisation to reduce material use;
offering seasonal, local and plant-based catering options, with measures to prevent food waste and eliminate single-use plastics;
working with local suppliers to reduce transport-related emissions;
reusing and upcycling event materials, including banners, decorations and badges;
operating as a paperless event, with no promotional gadgets distributed;
offsetting the event’s carbon footprint through investment in a certified sustainable project.
Even small actions from participants can make a difference, such as bringing a reusable water bottle, choosing digital materials and travelling sustainably all help reduce the event’s environmental footprint.
