Young Energy Ambassadors

Digitally engaged young people (from 18 to 34 years old, from the date EUSEW takes place), who are among Europe’s leading voices, passionate about building a sustainable, secure and clean energy future for Europe and the world. Young Energy Ambassadors are invited to help boost EUSEW’s messages within the youth energy community and among stakeholders, as well as advocate for this year’s theme ‘Net-zero energy solutions for a competitive Europe’. In return, young energy ambassadors benefit from the partnership and high-level visibility across official communication channels. Responsibilities

Beniamin serves on the Youth Advisory Group on Climate Change to the UN Secretary-General. He works as an energy transition consultant and has led and implemented projects in partnership with the Global Renewables Alliance, IRENA, SEforALL, IEA and UNIDO. Beniamin was the Co-Chair of Student Energy Summit 2023, the world’s largest youth-led conference on energy transition that was held at the margins of COP28 and brought together 600 youth from 130 countries.

Responsibilities

Dimitris Symeonidis is an energy policy visionary and geopolitical risk advisor, with a track record of working with stakeholders spanning the public, private and third sectors. He is the founder of the Decentralized Solutions Global Network, where he is working with local authorities and civil society in the Global South to develop functioning business models with high societal value for local energy and food production. He is also a project expert for CERTH, working on an efficient, sustainable and inclusive deployment of the hydrogen economy in the EU. Finally, he is policy lead at YES-Europe, mobilising youth in Europe and beyond in becoming leaders in the energy transition.

Responsibilities

Agnieszka specialises in the development of energy and climate protection plans and strategies for the public sector. Her research focuses on the thermo-ecological assessment of energy systems based on renewable energy sources. She is passionate about community and civic projects, raising awareness and promoting community engagement.

Neel is a seasoned innovator who has led many energy transition portfolios towards enabling decentralised ownership and building a bottom-up prosumer-led future for energy. He has previously worked in designing and deploying novel energy access solutions such as mini-grids and the world's first P2P energy trading platform in South Asia.

Responsibilities

Alex, a Policy Consultant at Malta's Ministry for Energy, holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and is nearing completion of an MSc in Sustainable Energy. As an experienced Energy Auditor, he has worked in building services engineering, he contributes to various research projects. Additionally, Alex serves on the Council of Malta’s Chamber of Engineers.

Blanka, with a background in International Relations, focusing on energy, currently works as a climate change and sustainability consultant. In this role, she assists the corporate sector reach its ESG goals and meet its sustainable obligations. She firmly believes that for the green transition to succeed, ambitious frameworks set at a supranational political level need to be endorsed and supported in a bottom up as well.

Léa is a researcher at VITO, the Flemish Institute for Technological Research, specialised in energy and climate modeling. With over six years of experience, she has been working with international power utilities, the WorldBank and the EU technical assistance facility to formulate evidence-based insights and translate quantitative information on energy systems into clear and compelling advice for decision-makers.

Monica is an energy engineer dedicated to sustainability and technological innovation. She has a strong background in energy digitalisation at the IEA and urban cooling projects at the UNEP. Currently, she analyses EV charging data at LCP Delta. Her leadership roles in the NGO YES-Europe and co-founding the student organisation PoliEnergy reinforced her belief in the power of collective action.

Anrijs has completed a master’s degree in environmental engineering and has been working in the energy sector for over 8 years. He began his career in Latvia's largest energy company and has spent the past 2 years at the rapidly expanding local energy company VIRŠI. In his role as a sustainability project manager, he is responsible for the development of EV charging networks, renewable energy, storage, and flexibility solutions. Anrijs believes that the most environmentally friendly kWh is the one that is not consumed, so he always pays attention to energy efficiency and promotes more responsible consumption.

Responsibilities

Chris is working for REScoop.eu, the European Federation of Energy Cooperatives, and Electra Energy (Greece). Both organisations promote the active engagement of citizens in renewable energy production in Europe. He has worked on multiple research programmes as an assistant, on topics such as the EU Green Deal and degrowth. He is interested in international climate politics and journalism and has attended multiple UNFCCC COPs.
