Adequacy 2050: How can we reliably combine security of supply with climate neutrality? The new long-term study by TransnetBW provides insights and answers.

At this event we will launch the Adequacy 2050 study, and we will discuss answers for a climate-neutral European energy system in 2050. We examine both generation and transmission capacity under stress situations such as extreme weather events and varying flexibility conditions. 

Using an integrated model chain, we explicitly consider sector coupling through decentralised and centralised flexibility technologies such as hydrogen and e-mobility, and question fundamental assumptions underlying current grid planning.
