Guidelines for sustainable energy day organisers 2022

The call to register Sustainable Energy Days is now closed. No further applications to host an event will be accepted.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Sustainable Energy Days are events taking place anywhere around the world and promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency. With the REPowerEU plan now at the forefront of increasing the Europe’s energy independence, every Sustainable Energy Day presents an opportunity to be part of the current developments in the sector.

These events are held between June and September 2022, exploring a variety of topics in sessions of different formats and durations.

You can be creative! A Sustainable Energy Day event might concentrate on awareness-raising, be centred on a specific activity, or focus on a particular technology or policy. It may choose to address a local community or even an entire region. Sustainable Energy Days can take place in public or private buildings, as well as outdoors, or even online, in compliance with the national or regional pandemic measures. Past events have been held in locations such as schools, parks, town halls, factories and conference centres.

In the context of the European Year of Youth 2022, youth organisations are particularly encouraged to organise a Sustainable Energy Day!

WHY ORGANISE A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DAY?

Sustainable Energy Days are a key component of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) – the biggest annual event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe – highlighting the work done in the field of sustainable energy at the local, regional and national levels.

Organising a Sustainable Energy Day gives you the opportunity to share your ideas and debate solutions with your community, decision makers and the public, and show how your organisation is playing an active role in achieving the EU’s energy and climate goals

By registering your event as a Sustainable Energy Day, it becomes part of the European Sustainable Energy Week and it will be further highlighted on the EUSEW website. You will gain online visibility by sharing your event on the EUSEW website and you can use the EUSEW-branded materials from the Sustainable Energy Day organiser toolkit to promote your event online.

Please note that the branded materials have guidelines which must be adhered to, and that the misuse of the elements provided may be considered to be fraudulent use, subjecting your event to revision by the European Commission, and the possible removal of the event as Sustainable Energy Day.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Anyone can organise a Sustainable Energy Day and it can be targeted towards any audience as long as the activity clearly highlights the importance of renewable energy and energy efficiency. As 2022 is the European Year of Youth, Sustainable Energy Days targeting or organised by youth will be especially relevant. A Sustainable Energy Day can be organised by educational institutions, public bodies, energy agencies, trade or industry organisations, businesses, NGOs, EU project partners, associations or networks or citizens.

Sustainable Energy Days should:

  • take place in June, July, August or September 2022
  • be held locally
  • be non-profit/have no admission fees
  • attract a minimum of 10 participants

Sutainable Energy Days may also be part of an existing project, programme or promotional activity.

HOW TO REGISTER YOUR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY DAY?

When you register your Sustainable Energy Day, you first need to create an account on the EUSEW website. You can then register your Sustainable Energy Day by completing the online registration form. The information provided in the form should be in English.

You may register more than one Sustainable Energy Day. If your event takes place in different locations, please fill in separate registration forms for each event with a different address. This will help people find your events on the interactive map.

Sustainable Energy Day organisers are requested to send information about the event they organised (including title, date, number of participants, speakers, general feedback, etc.) to the EUSEW Secretariat within 14 days of the event.

For guidelines, tips and tricks on how to promote and brand your Sustainable Energy Day as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week, check out the dedicated organiser toolkit.
