The Gipuzkoa Energy 2050 strategy proposes a model that reaffirms the local perspective that the Department of the Environment and Hydraulic Works has been granting to the vision of energy since the origins of the regional program, nourishing itself in addition to what is recommended by the 'winter package', that combines climate and energy action.

One of the pillars of this model is the distributed generation of energy for self-consumption: by locating the power generation facilities as close to the point of consumption, control of it is promoted, leaving demand management much more within the reach of the consumer, individually and/or collectively. And, specifically, collectively it is where self-consumption projects can become initiatives to combat energy poverty, promote energy renovations, sustainable electric mobility, storage and microgrids ... in short, in much more than mere generation.
