Meet the changemakers driving Europe towards its net-zero goals

PRESENTING THE EUSEW AWARDS 2024 WINNERS

It is time to congratulate the projects and individuals taking home the trophies for the Innovation, Local Energy Action and Woman in Energy categories.

The winners were announced during the EUSEW Awards ceremony on 11 June 2024.

You can find the videos of all nine finalists in the 2024 Award finalists press announcement.

INNOVATION

PHOTORAMA won the award in the innovation category with its proposal for circular solutions to solar panel recycling in Austria.

The EUSEW Innovation Award recognises outstanding ongoing or recently completed EU-funded projects that show an original and innovative path towards the clean energy transition.

“Recycling PV panels is not easy. The current practices are identified as ‘down-cycling’, which leads to irreversible loss of valuable raw materials. Our project has been designed to demonstrate that innovation can provide solutions for high-value recycling.”

Claire Agraffeil, project coordinator

LOCAL ENERGY ACTION

Centrales Villageoises won the award in the Local Energy Action category for creating a network of local communities to develop renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in France.

The EUSEW Local Energy Action Award recognises sustainable energy actions, implemented by a group of citizens or consumers (associated with a municipality or other stakeholders), which contribute to the clean energy transition at the community or local level.

“The model is implemented in over 70 territories, which have expedited the energy transition by establishing over 500 photovoltaic power plants on private and public rooftops (totalling more than 11 MWp installed, equivalent to powering 3,500 homes).

Juliette Rasse, development officer of the Association des Centrales Villageoises

WOMAN IN ENERGY

Rita Gomes won the award in the Woman in Energy category for redefining solar solutions in Portugal.

The EUSEW Woman in Energy Award recognises women who lead outstanding activities that help to advance the clean energy transition in Europe. Particular attention is placed on efforts to drive the gender mainstreaming agenda and support equality and equal opportunities in the energy sector.

Our mission is to bring the advantages of solar technology in furniture to a worldwide audience, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.”
