EUSEW community may be young at heart, but if you also happen to be within the 18-35 age range and working towards Europe’s clean energy transition, we have an irresistible offer for you. The Young Energy Ambassadors (YEA) programme is your chance to join the next cohort of remarkable young professionals, who will take active part in discussions during the European Sustainable Energy Week on 10-12 June 2025 and beyond.
This year’s event is held under the theme ‘Powering a fair and competitive green transition.’ The European Commission wants to make sure that young people can use their own voice to help shape Europe’s future. This also means taking on greater responsibilities in our societies and democracies. Our collective transition to clean energy needs the voice of young leaders like you.
Have an active role at EUSEW 2025
As a Young Energy Ambassador, your costs for participation in the event in Brussels will be covered by the organisers. During the event, not only will you be able to network with policymakers, industry leaders and researchers, but also speak to media representatives from across the EU. Whether it is sharing ideas during the Policy Conference sessions or networking at the Energy Fair, this is your chance to be seen and heard.
Each year, Young Energy Ambassadors are at the heart of the EUSEW European Youth Energy Day. In the past, this format offered a wide range of opportunities to steer the policy conversations:
Dedicated main plenary discussions, including a prime-time dialogue with Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič during the closing session.
A closed-door session to co-create recommendations on the future of clean energy for the new Commissioner for Energy and Housing.
A dialogue between generations to explore their different challenges and opportunities and find common ground for cooperation
A 48-hour Communication Hackathon focused on teams of young people generating ideas to boost renewables and energy efficiency.
However, the YEA programme is more than just an opportunity to attend the EU's biggest sustainable energy event. It is about becoming part of an outstanding professional network spanning all of Europe.
A year of opportunities
This is not a short-term commitment. With a year-long mandate, your impact will not end once the EUSEW 2025 edition is over – it is just the beginning. You will get involved in EU policymaking on energy, learn from experts and participate in various activities. Next to our well-frequented blog, we are able to offer YEAs a chance to be featured in Europe’s leading media outlets specialising in sustainable energy issues.
The 2024 cohort of Young Energy Ambassadors is already making their voices heard loud and clear. For example, Alexandru Muresan explores the importance of bridging the gap between technological advancements and energy literacy in his blog, ‘The European Green Deal’s Secret Weapon: Education’ and points out the need for an education initiative to support citizens, educators, and the workforce.
Eliza Barnea highlights the need for a Green and Social Deal to balance climate action with social protection for vulnerable groups in this thought-provoking piece ‘The green transition at a crossroads: how equity can take it forward’.
Community of changemakers
Being a Young Energy Ambassador means joining other ambitious professionals paving the way for a more sustainable Europe and a climate-neutral future. From students to industry leaders, researchers, and activists, the YEA network is truly diverse. The programme is inclusive and welcomes young professionals from all sectors.
