INNOVATION: ORIGINAL SOLUTIONS TO DRIVE CHANGE

Meeting Europe’s energy targets for 2030 and 2050 requires bright ideas and original solutions. The Innovation category is all about shining a light on EU-funded activities, projects and actions that are dedicated to finding new approaches to transform our energy landscape.

Who: Outstanding ongoing or completed EU-funded projects, activities and actions.

LOCAL ENERGY ACTION: COMMUNITY-DRIVEN INITIATIVES

Thinking globally while acting locally will be key to unlocking lasting change in the energy transition. From smart cities taking steps to decarbonise their energy sources to community-funded projects in wind and solar, we want to hear about how local and regional initiatives are taking practical steps to boost the use of sustainable energy in Europe.

Who: Activities, projects and actions ongoing or recently concluded carried out by organisations or groups of citizens/consumers dedicated to changing the energy landscape in their local area.

WOMAN IN ENERGY: SUSTAINABILITY AND EQUALITY

The clean energy transition must be inclusive if it is to be successful. This award spotlights women who are leading projects and activities that are changing the landscape of renewable energy and emphasises the value of equal opportunities and a gender-balanced agenda in the energy sector.

Who: Any woman who is leading game-changing activities in the clean energy transition and supports equality and equal opportunities in the energy sector, in the European Union or the European Economic Area.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

The evaluation process will be carried out by European Commission staff and an external technical committee. The selection of three finalists per category will be done by a high-level jury.

The winners will be decided via an online public vote and announced at the Awards Ceremony, that will take place in Brussels on 20 June 2023. All finalists are invited to attend the event.

Along with being considered best-in-class for their contribution to a sustainable energy future, winners and finalists can expect to receive added visibility for their work. A professional film crew will visit the finalists to create a promotional video of their work, and their profile will be promoted on the EUSEW communication channels during the public vote, as well as being included in a press package sent to pan-EU and local media outlets.
