Description
Millions of people across the European Union experience energy poverty – women and marginalized groups are affected disproportionately. This is exacerbated when gender inequality is compounded by age, class, and racial attributions as well as the current energy market crisis. The combination of rising energy, transport and food prices accelerates the risk of energy poverty. This may lead to increasing gender inequalities, since energy poverty among women can be related to their physiological and health situation as well as to their economic and social status. All these dimensions – especially in combination – put women at higher risk of energy poverty. Therefore, it is essential to take a closer look towards the relationship between energy poverty and gender.
Join our experts from WIP Renewable Energies, GREEN Home, Enginyeria Sense Fronteres, BayFOR and WECF when they share their insights on energy poverty and gender and discuss solutions towards a gender-just energy transition.
Agenda:
- Katharina Habersbrunner (WECF): Facilitation and introduction
