Description
Workshop 1 – ‘Introduction, Vision and Problem Identification’ - focused on identifying and understanding the challenges and opportunities in the development of urban, spatial, and energy planning in the municipality of Horn.
This workshop is part of a series of events under the scope of the EU-funded Plenty-Life project, aiming to build capacity in local municipalities for energy and urban planning towards decarbonization.
The event is designed to help participants and local stakeholders acquire the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to explore the benefits of clean energy solutions within their local community.
The first objective of this workshop is to understand the population's perception of the current challenges facing the municipality's energy transition and the tools that are already in place. During the workshop, we will map these challenges, limitations, and opportunities, then develop a roadmap from strategic goals and aspirations, and draw conclusions from tangible impacts and actionable tools. Insights will also be shared for formulating an effective ‘Clean Energy Transition’ (CET) Strategy, tailored to the specific needs of the municipality.
The following topics will be addressed in this workshop:
- Sustainable Urban Planning: This discipline promotes the efficient use of resources and aims to ensure the long-term well-being of residents and the environment. The focus is on creating cities that are environmentally friendly, socially just, economically dynamic, and resilient.
- Integrated Energy Planning: This topic involves developing medium- to long-term strategies to meet energy needs in a cost-efficient, socially acceptable, economically viable, and environmentally friendly manner. These plans are aligned with national and regional development goals.
- Spatial Energy Planning: As part of spatial planning, this field addresses the spatial aspects of energy consumption and supply. It aims to promote energy savings and the use of renewable energies while optimizing the interplay between energy supply and demand.
By combining these elements, the workshop aims to create a comprehensive understanding and actionable strategies for the municipality's energy transition.
