Description
The ComEnerg Project of the Legal Institute works to design energy communities as instruments for fostering energy citizenship, promoting education and coordination among various stakeholders in the context of their establishment, installation, and governance.
In this context, to fulfill its mission of raising awareness and disseminating energy citizenship among citizens, and to align itself with EU institutions engaged in similar activities, the project aims to bring to Portugal the event model proposed by the European Union, the Sustainable Energy Days. For the second time, University of Coimbra Institute for Legal Research - UCILER and the ComEnerg Project will organize the Sustainable Energy Day about energy citizenship in Portugal.
The event features leading Portuguese experts on energy communities, fostering constructive discussions on their role through dialogues that present legal contributions toward new sustainable pathways, with a strong dialogical and cooperative approach.
Portugal’s first Sustainable Energy Day was organized by UCILER in 2023 and was a great success in terms of audience and participation. Many experts and stakeholders attended, along with the local public and authorities.
The event featured the presentation of academic papers submitted to a scientific committee for evaluation. Following the event, a book compiling the participants' works was organized, edited, and published—the first book in Portugal dedicated to the topic of energy communities.
The second edition aims to bring together an even greater number of experts and, hopefully, a broader and more diverse audience to engage in meaningful discussions on this pivotal topic, fostering deeper insights and impactful exchanges.
