Description
Extensive use of fossil fuels by mankind during a century has led to increasing levels of atmospheric CO2, which by greenhouse effect accelerates global warming and climate change. In order to slow down this process, new technologies and materials are required for generation of fuels and chemicals using renewable energy and abundant compounds in nature. Artificial photosynthesis is one of these promising technologies, which involves developing strategies inspired in natural photosynthesis, thus using light as energy source, water and CO2 as feedstocks and developing efficient photocatalysts for driving the process to the aimed products.
The FotoArt-CM Summer School 2022 has the goal of teaching the fundamentals and applications of artificial photosynthesis to predoctoral and junior postdoctoral researchers. Special focus will be made in showing the state-of-the-art in materials and catalysts development in this field. Lectures will be given by experts in different topics related to artificial photosynthesis, such as the fundamentals of semiconductor materials, photocatalysis, photoelectrochemistry, organic photosynthesis, use of enzymes as photocatalysts, nanostructured carbon materials, as well as applications for CO2 valorisation or H2 production.
